In a small brewery in a quaint suburb in eastern Melbourne, a group of extremely talented employees sat around a table, trying to come up with the perfect name for their newest brew - a lime and ginger gose. They sat in silence, staring blankly at each other, before one piped up. “Puns ‘n’ Goses?” they suggested. The group groaned in unison, and another chimed in, “Stop And Smell The Gose?”. More groans ensued.
The team continued to throw out one bad pun after another. “Gose to the Beach”, “Gose to the Head", “Gose for Gold”... the list went on and on. Just when they were about to give up hope, another spoke up. They sat in silence for a moment, quietly contemplating. It wasn’t the funniest pun they had heard, nor was it the most original. But really, what’s in a name? That which we call a gose by any other name should taste as sour, after all.
Powering up their Glen Iris brewhouse, located 10km southeast of Melbourne's CBD, was an incredible milestone for Deeds Brewing founders Pat Alé and Dave Milstein. Having gained life as a contract brand, Quiet Deeds, in 2012, the brewery remains proudly independent and is still passionately brewing quality beers worth sharing. Under the leadership of Head Brewer Justin Corbitt, expect the new Deeds beers to be exploring a diverse array of modern styles.
